Peter's Story

Having grown up with great coaches, mentors, and role models in Washington DC, Peter kept their example in mind as he began teaching right after college. The history teaching role in New Bedford, Massachusetts at a school for boys from low-income homes was going to be temporary.  Rather it was here that Peter found his love of the classroom. Finding that there wasn’t anything quite like teaching, Peter received his masters in social studies education from NYU while student teaching in both Brooklyn and Bronx public schools. After graduation Peter returned to the DC area where he has just finished his fourth year teaching English and journalism at the largest high school in Maryland, Montgomery Blair. Contributing to the community, helping students find their voice and passion, and paying forward the guidance Peter received when he was young drives him each day.
